Sports Massage Zurich

Most people mean by a sports massage a massage that is carried out with a lot of pressure and goes very deep.

The focus is on prevention to avoid injuries during exercise and accelerated regeneration of the body after exercise. Various grip techniques are used to increase the blood flow to the muscles.

The increased blood flow delivers more oxygen to the muscles and stimulates the muscular metabolism. Among other things, metabolic degradation products are better and faster removed and muscle strength and endurance is increased. This maximizes athletic performance and minimizes the risk of injury.

For whom is it suitable and when should it be used?

  • High Performance and Professional Athletes
  • Hobby athletes
  • before and during longer or more intensive sports units
  • Before and after competitions

The sports massage is not only recommended for high-performance and professional athletes. Hobby athletes also benefit from the positive effects of this form of massage, especially before longer or more intensive sports units, which are rather unusual. For example, a sports massage can be used before a marathon, a particularly long cycling tour or a competition. The type of massage depends on the special requirements of the muscles of the respective sport. In sports that require rapid and short muscle contraction (e.g. sprinting), the muscles are activated and muscle tone increased. In sports such as cross-country skiing, where longer and slower contractions of the muscles occur, the massage loosens the muscles and lowers the tone.

This form of massage is particularly recommended for athletes who practice a sport in which the body is extremely one-sided or the athlete is under extreme psychological pressure. In addition to the physical effects, the sports massage also has a positive effect on the psyche and helps to reduce stress.

When is it not recommended?

  • acute inflammations
  • Diseases with fever
  • fresh injuries

A sports massage is not recommended for inflammations, illnesses with fever or after fresh injuries. In the case of varicose veins or high blood pressure, you should talk to your doctor.

Effects before sport

Effects after sport

  • Faster regeneration of the body and muscles
  • Prevention of muscle soreness
  • L&o;re of ratios and tensions
  • Positive influence on the healing of strains

After special physical exertion this treatment can lead to faster regeneration of the body and muscles and prevent muscle soreness. Through the massage, lactate (milk) and other cell losses are degraded more quickly, contractions and tensions are relieved and the body becomes more efficient again more quickly. It has a positive influence on the healing and the risk of inflammation of the muscles in the case of strains, already existing muscle soreness or tension.

How often should you use a sports massage and how can you prepare?

In general, there are no fixed rules as to how often you should use this special form of massage. The frequency of massages can be chosen according to individual wishes and needs. An ideal interval should be found in the conversation with the masseur. Regular treatment is recommended for professional athletes. This also applies to hobby athletes who want to increase their general performance and avoid sore muscles. However, for normal hobby athletes who only want to maintain their fitness, an occasional massage before and after competitions or other exceptional requirements is sufficient.
